SEWING CLOTH NAPKINS Materials Needed
How to Sew 1. Using your fabric pen and ruler, Mark a 13 x 13 inch square on your fabric ( you will need two) 2. Using your scissors cut your squares out. (I would suggest using a rotary cutter for more precision) 3. Iron your pieces 4. Taking your first piece of fabric On the left and right sides, fold a 1/4 inch hem. right side should be folded to wrong side. Then press. Repeat with other fabric. 5. Fold corners of all side of the hem about 1/4 making a triangle. Press down really well. Repeat with other fabric. See picture below. 6. Press a 1/4 inch hem along the top and bottom. Repeat with other fabric. 7. Pin two pieces together, right sides up. 8. Using a straight stitch, sew as close to the edge as possible around the entire Napkin. (note for when you get to corner, left presser foot up -needle should still be in the fabric - pivot then place presser down to continue to sew) 9. Then sew around again about 1/8 inch away from the 2nd stitch 10. Press and cut any lose strands of thread For more intermediante or advance sewers Try using a double needle for your stitching. Double Needles can be purchased at any fabric store. You can also try differ stitch patterns or setting for a more decorative stitch You can also serge your napkin as well |
