Ease: is the amount of space built into a patternor garment from the body measurements to the actual garment.

Facing: a piece of material sewn to the edge of the garment such as a dress or coat, as a lining or decoration.

Foot (Feet): The foot on your sewing machine is a metal piece that holds your fabric down. There are different kinds to use, the general foot allows for general stitch sewing. There are also special feet that can be purchased for zipppers, hemming, gathering and more.

Fuse/Fusible: refers to using fusible material, which melts to glue two pieces of fabric together. The melting is done by applying heat with an iron.

Grain: Refers to the crosswise or length wise threads in woven fabric. On the grain line refers to lengthwise thread and your pattern should be place lengthwise.

Hem: Is a turned under edge, it made by turning under/folding the edge and sewing it down for a finished look.

Interfacing: is a interior addition that is unseen to various parts of the garment, such as colars, to help give the garment shape and body.
